Well, first, as No_Absolutes pointed out, Battlestar Galactica Season 1 has finished showing in the US and has left us with entirely too many cliffhangers. As many a bereaved fan has said before me, "DAMN YOU RON MOORE!"
Changing Planes was a great book, so much fun and totally unlike anything I've read y Le Guin before. It's about a traveller whose flight is delayed and how she learns to planeshift to visit other dimensions and it's an account of some of the cultures she encounters. That doesn't sound fantastic or amazing or anything, but it is. It was light, entertaining and insightful.
I finally finished the Ender/Bean series by Orson Scott Card with Shadow of the Giant, which was interesting but nowhere near as exciting or groundbreaking as the series used to be. And he's messed with a lot of the characters, made them more normal... I think that's a product of a change in the social/political environment since he wrote Ender's Game.
On our friends Taike and Kieran, if I get it edited (fat chance) it will be published in our school literary magazine. Motivation notwithstanding, there will definitely be a prequel explaining the circumstances and dealing with Taike's parents. And possibly a sequel taking place five, six years later, but that's iffy.
Today Brian came to visit from Taiwan! And reminded me of how awful drafts are and how nice guys like him shouldn't be sent to crazy schools where they're girl-deprived! Not healthy!
Anyway, more details of our exploits here on Crystal's lj. We got these cute card things and watched Be Cool, which was wierd, at times funny, but the I like the other Travolta/Uma Thurman pairing I've seen (Pulp Fiction) better.
Here's the card thing, stolen from Crytal, b/c her entry is friends only:
And yeah, the eubonics were lame and the lip syncing was BEYOND pathetic.I bought The Algebraist. I'm very happy.
