I've  been laughing about these for the last half an hour.  Read on to see many of your favourite scifi and fantasy books... reduced to their essences.
Take, for example, this summary of The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert Heinlein:
Robert A. Heinlein
I have a plan for the perfect revolution.
Reader
Interesting, tell me more.
Robert A. Heinlein
Step One: Live on the moon.
Reader
Uh....
Robert A. Heinlein
Step Two: Discover an omnipresent sentient computer.
Reader
*sigh*

I love the Collected Works of H.P. Lovecraft:
NarratorI will tell you about something horrific I witnessed.
(Narrator discusses MUNDANE experiences which supposedly lead up to something HORRIFIC.)
NarratorWe're almost at the horrific bit.
(Narrator talks about more stuff that might be SPOOKY if he'd only GET ON WITH IT.)
NarratorWe're very close now.
(Narrator draws it out MORE.)
NarratorThis time I swear we're just about at the horrific thing almost.
(Narrator FINALLY gets to the HORRIFIC thing which is HUGE and POWERFUL and EVIL and LAME.)
THE END
