What Kind of Novel Should I Write?
brought to you by Quizilla

I'd be careful with that quiz, though. It told Charlie Stross he should be writing Chicklit. CHARLIE STROSS.

Well, the blurbs/reviews on River of Gods were full of praise for your sex scenes. Though you should probably stick to having a plot, becuase while meaningless sex may have its merits, plots are better.

O_o I am properly perplexed. Took it a second time and it told me I should be writing Historicals. Meh.

I suppose Fantasy is alright, but Tolkien? I HATE Tolkien. Excessive description, ugh. I read pretty much anything and everything, but I doubt if I'd write anything of these.

Isaac Asimov ROCKS. George Orwell = great.

If you want good fantasy, I direct you towards Susanna Clarke, Neil Gaiman and also some of Charlie Stross' shorter fiction- try the concrete jungle. It's not exactly fantasy, but it's good.
Tolkein was groundbreaking. His characters do have a rather stilted way of speaking which I find amusing. And Robert Jordan and his ilk have destroyed the genre. DAMN YOU TERRY GOODKIND!!!!

I haven't heard of any of the above except Susannah Clarke and Neil Gaiman (owing to Crystal being herself, ie. nuts), but thanks for the great link. I'll keep an eye out for those.

Haha. To my immense satisfaction (alright, there's a certain amount of malice there) all people talk about when LOTR is mentioned is 'Legolassssss!!!! I'll be your girl!!! Take me away on your shining white horse where we may live as Elven King and Queen!!!'

I used to read LOTR fanfiction too, until the barrage of sarcasm that invaded my brain prevented my ability to think. =D I sympathise heartily with Chandler at times.

Quizilla tells me everything about my life that I never knew. =)

While it told me I should be fabricating Gothics with great haste, I'm not going to go out of my way to do so... I'm not even a fan of gothics.

Something new

You should break your own path, write something totally new. From your web pages, I get the impression you are or will be capable of it. Something philosophical. Kafka, Borges, Stanislaw Lem - now female. Whatever you choose.
